Trust the Process

I recently completed an exercise workout and was laying on the exercise mat in a sweaty mess thinking “what am I doing to myself”, when I heard the fitness instructor say, “you may be feeling exhausted now, but trust the process and you will get there”.  It made me think, if we can trust the process to get physical results, shouldn’t we trust Gods process more to get spiritual results.

In fitness training, there is a process to follow to gain the physical results we want for a healthy, toned body, that process is to exercise regularly. Working the upper body, core, lower body and doing cardio; feeling the burn and believing that the working of the different muscles in time will promote strength, stamina and promote positive results. Then repeating the process every day or every other day whatever the pattern of the workout is.

The road to physical health is a disciplined and persistent one, we trust in the process of physical fitness that over time if we are consistent in following the course the body will begin to respond, muscles strengthen, becoming more flexible and losing excess weight.

What of our spiritual health? There is a set process there too: praise, read the bible, mediate on the word and pray. When we trust this process of biblical principles we will gain stronger faith and a deeper insight into spiritual things.  If we repeat the process daily we will experience the desired results and the fulfilment of the covenant promises in our lives.

Like physical training sometimes it will be hard, we may want to give up, however just as a physical trainer will say ‘dig deep’ and ‘push through’. Our trainer the Holy Spirit will remind us… “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33) and “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” (Mark 9:23).  God will take the strain for us, but we must follow the process.

Nike slogan is ‘Just Do It’; my daughter once told me “we should push”. I said, “push what?” She said, “Mummy P.U.S.H: Pray, Until, Something, Happens. To see results whether physical or spiritual we must endure and trust the process. God is the same God yesterday, today and forever, He is the ultimate trainer and motivator.

So, Just P.U.S.H!
