Jesus Can Set You Free!

Jesus Can Set You Free!

Galatians 5:1

“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to the yoke of slavery.”

What is the definition of freedom? The oxford dictionary defines freedom as “The state of not being imprisoned or enslaved.” But how can anyone determine if he/she is free or imprisoned/enslaved?

The answer to this question can only be found through one source…

“The Holy Bible”

2 Corinthians 3:17 tells us; “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”

I want to take this opportunity to say a short personal testimony that set me free from the spirit of anxiety, stress, worries and lies.

In the earlier part of my circular career, I worked with an organisation as a contractor and after 8 months the contract was coming to an end and I knew I had to secure another contract as soon as possible. I began calling different agencies and seeking employment within my profession, then finally my agency at the time called me to offer me another contract.

I accepted the contract quickly and planned to move on to the new job within a 3 week period, then suddenly the Lord spoke to me that I needed to change the course of my plan and do something completely different.  Shortly within that that same period, I secured another job with a completely new company and I was left with no option but to tell my agency of the new development.

At this time, my spirit began to be troubled. I was anxious and planned how I could use manipulating words to convince my agent that I was not going to take their offer. In fact, the devil asked me to lie about my stance.

But, one faithful morning around 4:00am, The Lord spoke to me;

“Tell them you have decided to change your work pattern to fixed term contract.”  As simple as it sounds, those words delivered me from all manners of manipulation and lies, and I felt a sudden relieve in my spirit. The next morning, I called my agent and told them my plans and to my surprise, the agent simply said; “you’re doing the right thing.”

Beloved, many of us have been tied down with all manners of bondage; it could be lying, addiction, anger, strife, envy, jealousy, confusion, depression, sickness and the likes… But I tell you something: the Bible tells us in John 8:36 “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

I encourage us this month, whatever you may be confused about, or whatever troubles you in your spirit, if you take it to God, trusting and obeying Him, you shall be made free from all captivities in your life.

Freedom in Christ is true freedom.  Until we understand and accept Him as Lord and Savior, we will stay in bondage to sin, shackled up by many chains.  I encourage us; give your heart to Jesus today and shake off those chains, if you have not already.

We are not promised tomorrow, so do not delay!  Start your journey of freedom with Jesus Christ!  For those that are free, stay strong and finish the race well!
